Daniel Sturridge may face a ban by playing a variety of matches in Turkey for breaking up rules when the FA is powerful with an appeal over his sanctions.
Sturridge was given a fine and a ban in July – a decision that the FA believed was overly lenient – following an independent commission inquiry.
It found that the former England international had instructed his brother, Leon, to put bets on a possible move being made by him .
But two of 11 charges caused by Sturridge were disregarded and an announcement issued from the FA at the time said the body”respectfully disagrees with all the regulatory commission’s findings.”
Sky Sports News has been advised when the FA’s appeal is effective, and English football’s governing body may hunt for this to be levied in Turkey, if there is a sporting sanction imposed which includes a longer playing ban.
In the event the FA’s request was accepted by the Turkish authorities that would indicate that Sturridge – that made his debut about Sunday Trabzonspor – could then be forced to sit out any additional matches for his team.
The 30-year-old signed up a contract using Trabzonspor in August and arrived off the bench for his debut in Sunday’s 2-2 draw.
Until now no football has been missed by Sturridge before the new year started because the ban expired.
