Kieran Trippier has struck out in Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino within the manner of his departure from Tottenham, saying they failed to disclose their own plans to market him.
The 28-year-old right-back joined Atletico Madrid from Spurs for #21.7m in July, and said on Monday he believed he had obtained a”step up”.
Trippier admits he did not need to depart north London, but had no choice when his boss and chairman did not respond to his orders.
He explained:”I spoke to the supervisor about his aims and that I did not get a’yes’ and that I did not get a’no’ – therefore you get the impression.
“The supervisor didn’t say he wished to move me and I tried to talk to the chairman about it.
“It is not nice when you know the club need to market you. I heard rumours and it’s not fine but it occurs and it’s soccer.
“It’s disappointing. I gave everything to the club and that I wanted to stay. I had another couple of decades but what happens for a reason.
“Me and your manager didn’t leave on bad terms; he has done a great deal for me and I respect him highly.
“it is only a couple items – I tried to talk to the chairman, I simply didn’t get an answer.”
Trippier appreciated a superb World Cup for England in 2018 however suffered a slump in form last year – his final campaign at Spurs.
He was dumped by Gareth Southgate for the Nations League this summer, however, has returned after his move into Spain for the European Qualifiers of this month.
Trippier acknowledged his standards slipped but believes Spurs may regret selling himsaying:”Everybody has an opinion – that you have, the pundits have.
“It does not bother me but clearly the fans… I set the bar high at the World Cup and they knew how well I can perform.
“Tottenham got rid of me in the wrong moment, but I struggled with injuries. I might have come back fresh and fit but they left the decision and now I’m at Atletico.”
